It’s not just on the race course that egos will be at stake during the America’s Cup Jubilee which starts on Saturday 18 August. It’s in harbour as well where 61 of the fleet have entered for the Yachting World Concours d’Elegance Trophy.

‘Whilst it will be a rare treat to inspect such a unique collection of famous and beautiful yachts,’ said Editor Andrew Bray, who is chairing the Judging Committee, ‘to choose the winner will be no easy task and the Committee will need to exercise the utmost tact and diplomacy when deciding the winner.’

To make his job easier, the Committee is made up of well qualified sailors, designers and sailing historians. Lord Amherst of Hackney represents the Royal Yacht Squadron, Robert Mackay is flying in from the USA on behalf of the New York Yacht Club, whilst historian William Collier, designer Jonty Sherwill and YW Deputy Editor David Glenn complete the team.

The Jubilee will be officially opened on Saturday 18 August by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and the prizegiving on 25 August will be attended by HRH The Princess Royal. Regular reports will be published on yachting-world.com
