Musto Performance Partners crewed by Nigel Musto and Andy Hindley, arrived in Crosshaven, Southern Ireland at 14:40:45hours this afternoon only two and a half minutes behind the only other Open 60 in the Race, Victoria Group.
“It has been awesome, especially the last 130 odd miles. We went from Bishops to Crosshaven in nine hours which for 135 miles is almost equivalent to a Whitbread 400 mile day! It’s interesting that the second multihull over the line, FPC Greenaway, did Bishops to Crosshaven in the same time as us,” commented Nigel Musto.
At the time of writing Nigel Musto was standing in Royal Cork Yacht Club in the same Musto HPX Drysuit that he had worn on the boat for the 230 mile nautical race from Plymouth, and was completely dry. “Ironically Spirit of England bought a couple of HPX Ocean Drysuits before the start, and came and found me when we got in to say that they were very glad that they did!” commented Musto.
Musto and Hindley have a small list of repairs including broken battens and a broken back car to complete in the 48 hour ‘pitstop’. The team should be able to rest properly before restarting at 14:40:45 on Wednesday 10 June.
