Henri-Lloyd Halcon jacket
Elaine is not the only one to fall for a packaway-style jacket (see her review of the Musto Women’s Evolution Primaloft Jacket). The Henri-Lloyd Halcon jacket became an instant favourite and has been used religiously all this year.
The secret lies with the down filling inside – it feels like wearing a lightweight sleeping bag, especially when you pull the drawstrings tight with the hood up. The fact that it packs away into a compact drawstring carry bag (provided) is an added bonus, particularly for travelling.
It is finished with a rain-resistant DWR coating and washes well. It’s so comfortable, in fact, I still get excited about putting it on – is that wrong?
Verdict
The Halcon is more a high street jacket than a technical sailing garment, and certainly wouldn’t stand up to a saltwater dousing, but as a stylish garment for light days or an under-layer it’s fantastic whether travelling to a boat test or actually on the water.
