Alex Thomson has postponed joining Hugo Boss in the Barcelona World Race due to concerns about his baby son’s health
Alex Thomson Racing Team has told us that British skipper Alex Thomson has delayed joining Hugo Boss as planned.
This difficult decision was taken because his baby son Oscar, who was born three days ago, on 7 January, has been diagnosed with a heart condition called coarctation of the aorta.
Further tests will be carried out this week. Both parents will remain with their young son in Southampton General Hospital.
A further update will be made later this week when more detailed information is made available.
“As race organisers and as individuals we extend our support to Alex Thomson, his partner and families at what is an extremely difficult time.” Said Andor Serra CEO of Fundació Navegació Oceànica Barcelona, organizers of the Barcelona World Race.
