Helicopter to rescue Ultimate class skipper Bertrand Quentin this morning
This morning (Tuesday 2 November), Route du Rhum race director Jean Maurel was in consultation with race doctors regarding the health of Bertrand Quentin, skipper of Cote d’Or II.
Bertrand is suffering from extreme fatigue and nausea, and in light of the doctors’ and Director’s assessment that he is not in a position to operate his boat, they have asked him to set off his distress beacon.
CROSS Griz Nez is currently organising the skipper evacuation along with Spanish rescue services and a helicopter of the MMCC (Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre) will be on zone to proceed with the helicopter evacuation shortly.
