Enter the Yachting World Virtual Class in the Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race TODAY, and be in with a chance at winning some great prizes!
Entry opens TODAY – Monday 16 August – at virtualregatta.com.
Following the success of the Virtual Fastnet Race last year, when 27,000 players entered online, the Royal Ocean Racing Cub is working with online race experts Virtual Regatta to provide a virtual race round the British Isles to coincide with its Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race.
To register, simply pick your boat and equipment package and prepare to pit your wits against the real fleet of racers and the online community.
Entry is FREE although you may wish to pay for additional items such as extra sails or an autopilot to help you keep on the boil 24/7.
Once the race starts you will receive weather updates at 0700 and 1900 BST every day, but you will also need to keep on top of the tides, which will be updated hourly.
To join the Yachting World Virtual Class:
Enter as normal at virtualregatta.com or sevenstar.rorc.org, then send us an email at yachting_world@ipcmedia.com, containing the following details:
1. your name
2. your online boat name
3. your email address
4. your phone number *
Once we have the class boat list, we will post it up on-line (boat names only) allowing you to see who you are up against!
To see positions of boats during the race, make sure you TAG them (read the “Briefing” for instructions on how to do this).
PRIZES (see pics):
1st – Henri-Lloyd Ocean Pro Smock and Hi-Fit Trousers
2nd – Standard Horizon HX851E handheld VHF DSC radio
3rd – Standard Horizon HX280E handheld VHF radio
Remember, entry opens today giving you a week to practise before the start on Monday 23 August at 1400BST.
Good luck.
