A fantastic race and a great day out
Joining a boat at a quarter to three on a Saturday morning for a race is a shock to there system but I doubt there were many people who did this year’s JP Morgan Round the Island Race who won’t agree it was worth it. This was one of the most enjoyable Round the Island races I’ve ever done. Better than that, it was one of the most enjoyable races ever I can ever remember, full stop.
I was lucky enough to be sailing with Dee Caffari and her campaign team aboard Aviva. Dee is fresh from her first ever race in her Open 60, the Calais Round Britain Race. She question she keeps being asked, it seems, basically boils down to whether she feels she might have bitten off more than she can chew with such an audacious leap up from Challenge boats. Not from what I could see.
