What is it like behind the scenes at America’s Cup TV?
At times it can be tricky keeping up with the fast action and commentary in the new style, quick fire, action packed America’s Cup World Series. But behind the scenes in the TV control room the pace is frenetic with more screens, views and voices than you can possibly tune in to.
Sitting in on the behind the scenes production provided a fascinating insight into what it takes to produce a sports show of this quality. With cameras on the boats themselves, powerboats on the course, helicopters in the air, cameras in the public spectator areas and the team bases/media area, orchestrating the 120 strong crew is a mammoth task.
But in the end, for the match racing here in Plymouth, all that mattered to me was that it proved to be the best seat in the house.
