The 29er fleet was invited to be part of the now traditional 49er gold series in Weymouth each autumn. Light winds and a very sunny and warm day greeted the fleet on Saturday (11 October) and three races were held in marginal trapezing conditions.

In total contrast to the previous day’s light winds, the wind was too strong on Sunday and racing was cancelled. With a few of the old hands moving up to 49ers it was a good opportunity for some of the newer faces to make their mark on the fleet on Saturday. Ed Chapman and Tom peel won the day closely followed by current national champions Tristen Jaques and Alain Sign. Sophie Jones and Ben McViegh had a solid day to give them third. Fresh from the 405 class Dylan Fletcher showed a lot of promise and gained a credible fourth.
