Christina Bassadone and Katherine Hopson (GBR) scored two first places and a 17th yesterday moving them up to fourth place overall at the 470 Europeans
Day two of the 470 European Championship, Tallinn, Estonia, got underway in 3-7 knots of breeze and flat seas yesterday.
It was a good day for team GBR in the women’s fleet, Christina Bassadone/Katherine Hopson scored two first places and a 17th to move them up into fourth place overall. Helena Lucas/Jenny Heeley are in 13th place overall, with team mates Josie Gibson/Saskia Clark in 22nd place overall.
Vladeline Ilienko/Diana Krutskih of Russia are currently leading the women’s class but competition is tight as Janja Orel/Alena Orel of Slovenia are on even points in second place.
Gideon Kliger/Udi Gal of Israel are leading the 58 boat men’s fleet by four points from Nicolas Charbonner/Stephane Christidis. Team GBR sailors Nick Rogers/Joe Glanfield sailed a good day, scoring a sixth, a second and a fifth, to put them in fifth place overall. Team mates Graham Vials/Dan Newman are currently in 14th place overall after scoring a 2,7,8, scoreline.
The competitors have one more day of qualifying before sailing the finals series which concludes on the 3 August.
