Dave Hayes and Seam Dwyer have a taken a slim lead at the B14 nationals at Weymouth
The first two days of the B14 national championship in Portland Harbour have been dogged by light airs with crews rarely leaving the foredeck. Day one produced a north-easterly which fell apart not long after the fleet started and after two torrid laps, further racing was cancelled. Day two was a little better with a reasonably steady 4-5 knot westerly allowing three races to be completed.
Consistency has been hard to find and each race has produced a different winner. Matt Searle and Rich Bell took race one, Nils Jolliffe and John Branch the second, Tim Fells and Dave Cunningham race three and Dave Hayes and Sean Dwyer the fourth.
Overall Hayes/Dwyer hold a one-point advantage over Jolliffe/Branch while a number of the heavier crews are looking forward to the forecast big breezes on the last two days and the opportunity of a second discard.
