RYA Team GBR sailor Charlie Cumbley took the lead of the 2001 Finn Gold Cup, after sailing consistently and finishing with a second and eighth in race three and four
After winning the final race of the day on Tuesday, RYA Team GBR sailor Charlie Cumbley took the lead of the 2001 Finn Gold Cup, after sailing consistently and finishing with a second and eighth in race three and four. The 20 year old is on equal points with Sebastien Godefroid of Belgium, while teammate Chris Brittle is lying in bronze medal position, after adding a 14th and a third to his score.
Sailing has been extremely difficult. Yesterday the sea was flat but the wind ranged from 2-6 knots, with big shifts and very localised pressure, the current played a big role as well. Sailors were finding it hard to anticipate the shifts and once a mistake had been made the very light wind didn’t provide many chances to make up places.
