Two of the RYA Team GBR sailors are in top five places at the Laser Europeans
With one more day of qualifying races before the finals start on Friday, two of the RYA Team GBR sailors are in top five places at the Laser Europeans.
Paul Goodison improved his game by securing his first win of the regatta and following it up with a fourth place finish, pushing him up one place in the overall standings into fifth position. Fellow Team GBR sailor, Ed Wright, is currently lying in fourth position overall, after securing a seventh and a 10th position in Wednesday’s race. As six races have been sailed one discard comes into play, and Wright has been able to discard his disappointing 35th position from the previous day, to push him into fourth place.
In more consistent breeze, Norwegian sailor Peer Moberg showed he is well adapted to these conditions and is leading the event overall after six races, he carried on his dominance over the fleet, with a second and a first position. Diego Negri from Italy has scored a consistent string of second and third positions and is two points behind Moberg. Maciej Grabowski (POL) is in third position overall, being pushed up two places, due to a first place in the last race of the day.
The sailors will compete in one more day of qualifiers, then the first 50 per cent of boats (rounded down) will sail a Gold final series of a maximum of four races. The remaining boats will sail a Silver final series, also with a maximum of four races.
