Big winds caused the postponement of the National 12 Burton cup race at Porthpean SC in Cornwall
The National 12 Burton Cup race which traditionally takes place on the Tuesday of the class national championship was postponed today due to strong winds and big seas.
With the fleet having raced the day before in strong winds which led to several mast breakages and gear failure, the race committee wisely made the decision to postpone the racing for the day when 28 knots was recorded on the racecourse off Porthpean SC beach.
The forecast of slightly less winds tomorrow (Wednesday) should allow racing to continue.
