Geoff Carveth head the VW Touareg Laser SB3 European Championship fleet on last day 22/6/07
The penultimate day of the VW Touareg Laser SB3 European Championship at the Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy was another windy affair yesterday.
Over 20 knots of southerly breeze and 2.5m waves gave competitors another fantastic day of racing in Weymouth Harbour. Two races were sailed meaning that eight races in the flights series have been completed. This gives all competitors two discards, much to the relief of those crews who suffered breakages in the strong wind conditions during the week and missed races.
Geoff Carveth continued his top form with another two wins and Marshall King retains his second place overall, discarding an OCS in the second race. Paul Lovejoy in Badger Racing tipped Glenn Bourke off the podium, with two bullets giving him one point less than the multiple Laser World Champion at the end of the day.
A light wind forecast today leaves everything to play for on the final day.
