After the fisherman's blockade in France, marinas look forward to welcoming back the Brits 3/6/08
The Cherbourg Marina team have stressed their disappointment and sadness with regards to what happened to their British sailing clients last week. However, it now seems that they ready and eager to welcome back the Brits.
In an effort to make their stay in Cherbourg marina more pleasurable, marina staff cooked the stranded yachtsmen BBQs with fish presented by fishermen. They also made every attempt to inform guests in real-time about the situation, giving as many details as possible concerning the ferry terminal opportunities to come back to UK. Every day, sailing boats that were anchoring outside the marina were invited to come in and shelter.
After several days of negotiations lead by Bernard Cazeneuve, Cherbourg Mayor, the fishermen stopped their blockade on Tuesday 27 May. Cherbourg Marina is now back to normal:
“We would like to remind all our clients that they can berth onto brand new visitors pontoons. WiFi is available with Net@bord, and brand new toilets and showers blocks will be available by the end of July. Cherbourg Marina is ready again to accommodate British yachtsmen with the best service and spirit we ever had.”
