Steve Fossett and his 11-man crew have, subject to ratification, broken the Round the World Speed Record currently held by Bruno Peyron and Orange 1 by almost 6 days (improvement 5d 23h 4m 39s).

According to yacht designer Gino Morrelli in Plymouth, Fossett and crew crossed the Ushant finish line approximately 20 minutes ago (1600) and are now heading for Plymouth. They should arrive around midnight.
