Ogton SC is offering free entry to all Classic Fireballs
As the classic Fireball concept continues to gain more support across the country, Ogston Sailing Club has decided to go one step further by offering free entry to its open meeting for all UKFA classic boats.
Owners of older boats can enjoy a free day’s racing at Ogston Sailing Club on Sunday 1 May.
Fleet captain, Ian Smith commented on the new scheme: “By waiving the entry fee we hope to encourage Fireballers who wouldn’t normally consider attending an open meeting simply because they happen to have an older boat. All we ask is that they are a current member of the association and bring their measurement certificate.
“I’m hoping that other local clubs will join us in offering free entry to the classic boats over the next couple of years, a thriving classic entry will be a boost to the existing circuit and would encourage more people into this marvellous boat.
“Classic Fireball owners will be racing against new boats, but have the opportunity to win within their own fleet. In this world championship year we are expecting a competitive entry for the event, and it would be a shame for any Fireball sailor to miss out on this.”
