Up to 60 classic yachts are expected to attend the British Classic Yacht Club annual regatta in Cowes in July
The British Classic Yacht Club is holding its annual regatta, hosted by the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club, at Cowes from 24-30 July. This will be the largest collection of classic sailing yachts gathered in Cowes since the America’s Cup Jubilee in 2001. Running alongside the more technologically advanced yachts in the Commodores’ Cup, it promises to be a spectacular demonstration of yachting at its most traditional.
Up to sixty yachts, including design classics from the pens of Fife, Nicholson, S&S, McGruer, Rhodes and Laurent Giles, in addition to key groups of 6m and 8m design yachts, are expected to attend. The varied racing programme will include a Round the Island race on Tuesday 27 July, in which all yachts will race for the Moonbeam Trophy.
There will be a full social programme during the week ranging from cocktails at the Royal Yacht Squadron to a Caribbean evening party.
Classic yachts are invited, and to find out more about the regatta, including conditions of entry, notice of race and social programme please go to www.britishclassicyachtclub.org. Entries close on 12 June 2004.
