Clipper 07-08 Round the World Yacht Race celebrate Yves Le Blevec's Mini Transat win in Bahia 24/10/07
The Clipper crews who are starting the third leg of the Clipper 07-08 Round the World Yacht Race from Bahia, Brazil today, gathered yesterday afternoon to cheer French sailor Yves Le Blevec, the winner of the Mini Transat, across the finish line. See Mini Transat news story here.
The 84-strong Mini Transat fleet left La Rochelle the day prior to the Clipper Fleet’s departure last month.
Over the last few days the crews and skippers have been enjoying some time out between sail repair, victualing and maintenance. On Sunday the crews went sailing in the bay and match raced against some local historic sailing vessels. Liverpool 08 and Glasgow: Scotland with style Clipper went out for a training sail in the Bay of All Saints on Sunday to give the crew joining in Brazil a refresher sail ahead of the race start.
Duggie Gillespie, New York’s new skipper, was also out on the water with his crew on Monday in order to acquaint himself with the crew.
