Despite the light, tricky conditions the race committee are now well underway with the fourth day's starting sequence
The breeze has finally appeared here at Skandia Cowes Week allowing the fourth day’s racing to begin. Although it’s still lighter than most would prefer (average 3.8 kts) with the south-westerly in the western Solent fighting with the south-easterly in the in the east of the Solent, at least racing has started.
Chris Tibbs (official weather forecaster) has however, warned of significant holes and lulls which could make for a long afternoon on the racecourse. Whether the predicted south-westerly 10-15kts will appear later today is still very unclear.
