Sail 4 Cancer has become an official charity of the Tyco Healthcare Hamble Winter Series Charity Pursuit Race
Sail 4 Cancer joins the John Merrick’s Trust and the Hamble Inshore Rescue as an Official Charity of the Tyco Healthcare Hamble Winter Series Charity Pursuit Race. The Charity Pursuit will take place on Sunday 9 November 2003.
The most outrageously dressed teams out on the water will be awarded prizes during the prizegiving ceremony followed by a charity raffle. Race participants are also able to make a donation to Sail 4 Cancer on the race entry form.
Andy Hayward, Founder of Sail 4 Cancer commented: “The Pursuit Race is always a lot of fun but for several teams representing Sail 4 Cancer throughout the series, there is a serious message here. These teams will be sailing in memory of friends/family who have lost their battle with cancer. One such person is Charlie Oxley, former crew member and stalwart of Quokka.”
In an effort to encourage as many people on the water as possible, Sail 4 Cancer has, with its training partner BOSS (British Offshore Sailing School), put together a Charity Pursuit Race weekend. The package includes training onboard BOSS’s race tuned Sigma 38s, before competing in the actual race on Sunday. BOSS will then forward 10 per cent of the cost of the weekend to Sail 4 Cancer.
