The VOR yacht News Corp has requested permission to use their emergency water as the watermaker has broken down. The water-tanks containing the emergency water are sealed by the race committee to avoid that crews use the emergency water at the beginning of a leg to lighten the boat. This would leave them without the safety of emergency water during the leg.
For the first time in more than a day Assa Abloy has to accept not being the fastest boat in the fleet as the chasing group of Amer Sports One, illbruck, News Corp und Tyco cut between nine and 13 miles off her lead. However, her lead is not in immediate danger as the wind is forecasted to stay all the way to Cape Reinga. For djuice the chances of a comeback are getting smaller with each sked. Amer Sports Too has come into an area with lighter winds and is advancing with nine knots at the moment.
