Day two of the Europe Europeans got underway in Newport, Belgium, in a gentle 13 knots of breeze yesterday. The 124 competitors in the women’s fleet sailed two races and it was the Finnish sailor, Sari Multala who came out on top. Scoring a 14th and her third first place, puts her in first place overall by four points from Christiane Petzke of Germany.
Team GBR sailor Bryony Percy is still the top British women in this fleet, after scoring a fifth and a 16th place, she is lying in 15th place overall. Fellow team GBR sailor Debbie Winstanley had an improved day, scoring her highest result of the championship so far, a fourth place, and added a 16th to it in the second race of the day, to put her in 20th place overall.
Racing continues through until Thursday when the 2002 Europe European Champion will be decided.
