GBR25 leads race eight but another gun in race seven leaves Alinghi a massive 17 points clear at the top of the Rolex Farr 40 World Championship leaderboard
Another gun for the Geneva-based Alinghi America’s Cup syndicate in race seven has catapulted Ernesto Berterelli’s Farr 40 into an extremely impressive lead. With 22 points from seven races, Alinghi is 17 points clear of the second placed boat of current world champion John Calvert-Jones’ Southern Star.
Race eight, currently underway, is being bossed by Mark Heeley’s GBR25. At the second mark, GBR25 was leading from Steve Kaminer’s Predator, with Prada’s Gavin Brady calling tactics. Third around the mark was Tony de Mulder’s Victric, followed by Eivind Astrup’s Norwegian Steam and Southern Star rounded fifth.
