Although they didn’t make it to the quarter finals, Ian Walker and his GBR Challenge crew notched up four wins in their first Grade 1 match racing event
Despite winning one of his two remaining races in the round robin of the Steinlager / Line 7 Cup on Saturday 23 March, Ian Walker and his GBR Challenge crew did not make it through to the quarter finals.
The skipper for the British America’s Cup team said, ” The crew sailed well and I am really pleased to have won four races in my first ever Grade 1 match racing event. It is disappointing not to have made it through to the next round but we were sailing against some of the best guys in the world and every race was as tough as the next.”
“Now I am looking forward to going home to the UK, catching up with my family and friends and seeing the new boat which is being officially named on 12 April in Cowes.”
Andy Green, racing with another GBR Challenge crew, sailed better than his results would suggest and is looking forward to getting a good result in the Congressional Cup.
