Howard Hamlin and Mike Martin, the 1999 world champions, have won the 505 pre-worlds
The 505 pre-world championship at Cascais in Portugal ended up a one-race event, with Howard Hamlin and Mike Martin, the 1999 world champions, taking the overall title.
According to Hamlin they rounded the first windward mark about 20th, and sailed through the fleet to take the lead on the third upwind on a good shift, and won the race. There was not enough breeze for a second race, and the next day there was not enough breeze to launch, so the four-race pre-worlds series ended with just the one race.
The first two races of the QuebraMar International 505 World Championship will take place today.
