Volvo RYA Keelboat Sailors compete in Cowes Week on Peter Harrison's Farr 50 Chernikeeff
Eleven Volvo RYA Keelboat Squad Sailors will compete at Skandia Cowes Week on Peter Harrison’s Farr 50, Chernikeeff. Newly appointed Volvo RYA National Programme Manager, Nigel King (Ex Volvo Ocean Race and Kingfisher II veteran) and RYA Racing Services Manager, Dave Atkinson will be on hand to assess their development and provide training and support during the week.
Squad members sailing aboard the Farr 50 include: Jon Blackburn, Helen Brown, Dave Carr, Jeremy Elliott, Nick Gibbons, Ed Hill, Mark Lees, Luke McCarthy, Simon Shaw, Ali Hall and Nick Cherry.
Peter Harrison kindly stepped in at the 11th hour to lend his boat to the Volvo RYA Keelboat Sailors after previous plans with a charter yacht fell through.
Dave Atkinson commented: “We are indebted to Peter Harrison for the loan of Chernikeeff during Cowes Week. It continues his support of British Yachting and developing youth in sailing.”
“The Volvo RYA Keelboat Programme is going from strength to strength, with 30 squad members and three new programme managers supporting the scheme many of whom will be present at Skandia Cowes Week.”
