Following the huge British Olympic sailing success in Sydney, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal has confirmed her attendance at London’s British Nautical Awards on Friday January 5, 2001. Dubbed the ‘Oscars’ of the British boating scene and seen as the social highlight of both the yachting year and the London International Boat Show, the British Nautical Awards will be presented during the celebrity-attended Boat Show Ball at the London Hilton, Park Lane.
It is hoped that HRH The Princess Royal, President of the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) will make one of the 10 award category presentations which are headed by the BT YJA ‘Yachtsman of the Year’ – awarded for outstanding sailing achievement, and the MDL YJA ‘Young Sailor of the Year – which recognises endeavour and achievement in young sailors aged under 19.
