Francis Joyon, skipper of the maxi trimaran IDEC and holder of the round-the-world record, crossed the finish line of the Discovery Route in San Salvador (Bahamas) today (Friday, 7 November) at 02:06 GMT, breaking another record.
With a running time of 9 days, 20 hours, 35 minutes, he set a new solo record on the theoretical 3,885 miles. Sailing at an average of 16.4 knots per hour, Joyon overtakes the record set by 60-foot trimaran Sodebo and Thomas Coville.
