This year's Laser 4000/5000 Super Cup event at Queen Mary SC will take place on 27 October
This year’s top teams from the Laser 4000 and 5000 circuit will be competing in the final crash and burn Super Cup Slalom of the season on Saturday 27 October at Queen Mary Sailing Club.
The event is now a regular fixture for these fast asymmetrics and this end-of-season event promises another exciting day’s racing for competitors and spectators alike. The best sailors from the year’s Audi Laser EuroCup and the Crewsaver UK series have been invited to participate, with separate racing for the Laser 4000s and 5000s, and they should all be at peak performance at the end of a great racing season.
Following a series of short, sharp qualifying heats on a tight course, the day will culminate in a straight fight for the prizes in the ‘winner-takes-all’ final. The nature of the racing means that adrenelin runs high – any mistake is quickly punished by the other competitors and, with the course to be set right in front of the clubhouse, immediately cheered (or booed) by the spectators, who can smugly observe the racing from the comfort and warmth of the bar.
Racing starts at 1000, with food and beer available for spectators in the Queen Mary bar.
