Olympic gold medallists present Little Britain Challenge Cup cheques at Boat Show
Little Britain Challenge Cup cheques totalling £100,000 were received by Peter Snow, broadcaster and Vice Patron of the Jubilee Sailing Trust and double Olympic gold medallists Shirley Robertson and Ben Ainslie on behalf of the Jubilee Sailing Trust and the Ellen MacArthur Trust respectively at the London Boat Show.
The fund-raising Little Britain Challenge Cup is the largest corporate yachting regatta in Europe. The event, which has been running since 1988, takes place every year in September and is hosted by the Royal Yacht Squadron at Cowes. This year’s three-day event, scheduled to take place 8-11 September, promises to be a bumper affair.
At the London Boat Show there were also presentations to the Andrew Cassell Foundation (providing disabled sailors with the opportunity to sail with the able-bodied sailors) and the Cirdan Sailing Trust (providing young people with the opportunity to experience the challenge and excitement of sailing).
Commenting on the success of fund raising at the Little Britain Challenge Cup Peter Snow said: ” I’d like to thank every one at the Little Britain Challenge Cup for their enthusiasm and hard work in organising such a prestigious event and for the phenomenal amount that they have raised for their chosen charities.”
