A boom/bust performance for Mean Machine leaves Matador in the lead after the first day of racing in Marseille
Firing out of the blocks on the opening day of racing at the Audi Medcup, after winning the practice on Monday, saw Peter de Ridder’s Mean Machine take the first win of the series. But the early success was short lived when the Dutchman was forced out of a potential mid fleet position to take 14th place in the second race after incurring a penalty. Scoring a third in the third race restored some form and brought the team’s overall score back to fifth overall by the end of the day’s racing. But behind the boom/bust behaviour it was Alberto Roemmers’ Matador that took the top slot in the overall stakes by the end of day 1. Scoring a pair of seconds a seventh placed the Argentinean flagged team just one point ahead of Larry Ellison’s brand new USA17 and Bribon, helmed by Dean Barker, both on 12 points.
Conditions were brisk. Here’s the official video clip.
