Big winds forced the cancellation of the last day's racing at the Musto Performance Skiff national championship at Sunderland yesterday
Competitors at the Musto Performance Skiff national championship sponsored by Diamond Drilling and Cutting awoke to testing conditions on both Day 3 and Day 4 of their naitonal championship at Sunderland YC on Sunday and Monday.
With 25-30 knots forecast the race officer managed to get one race in before the weather closed in on Sunday, and although all efforts were made to sail on Monday, the weather was not going to behave.
Sunday afternoon was spent taking a RIB ride up the River Wear to check out the local pubs, and the evening live band added to the enjoyment.
The fleet racing has become even closer in the last season, as the sailors from all round the country and abroad get more experienced. However, the well deserved winner was Kevin Anderson from Sunderland Yacht Club who has been very close to winning on previous occasions.
The fleet are looking forward to their International Championship in Lake Garda at the end of September, where Kev has promised to take his lucky camper, otherwise known as Hotel Anderson.
