20 boats competed at Thorpe Bay open meeting
Just under 20 boats competed at Thorpe Bay open meeting. Richard Williams and Lindsey Iles led all the way around the first race as the wind went round in circles then dropped to nothing with torrential rain, thunder and lightning. Unfortunately they had been OCS, gifting the race to Ian Gore with guest crew Penny Yarwood.20 boats competed at Thorpe Bay open meeting
In the second race the wind dropped leaving the fleet struggling against the tide to get to the former gybe mark. Fortunately the wind eventually filled in allowing most of the remaining fleet to finish. First across the line were Camm and Ballantyne, followed by Gore and Yarwood with Terry and Angie Cooke taking third.
In the third race early leaders Steve Dunn and Helen Hunt were overhauled on the second beat by Camm and Ballantyne and Gore now sailing with wife Alex.
Camm and Ballantyne led the final race for the first lap followed by the Gores. The Gores took the lead on the final beat, sailing higher and faster. Kevin Iles finally made the water for the final race finishing in third place.
