Seventeen boats took part in the Gill National 12 series held at Filey SC on 16-17 July.

Races 1 and 2 were claimed by Graham Camm and Zoe Ballantyne. They were pushed home by Steve Sallis and Jenny James in race 1 and by Brian and George Kitching in race 2.

On Sunday there was a postponement until the sea breeze filled in enough to get racing underway. However, as the fleet approached the bottom of the run in the P-shaped course of race 3, the wind died again. This resulted in many place changes with Camm/Ballantyne emerging first, followed by John and Alison Cheetham.

Race 4 was held in the meeting’s best breeze, a Force 3. This saw Camm/Ballantyne swapping places several times with Kevin Iles and Alistair Donaldson. Iles/Donaldson finished first with Camm/Ballantyne literally inches from their transom.
