A new European yachting event entitled Europrix, was announced in Auckland.

The event will combine offshore and inshore racing in a series of 7 legs around the coastal ports of Europe. The event will start on May 8th in Italy and finish in Sweden on Midsummer’s Night. Stopovers will be hosted by ports in Spain, Portugal, France, Britain and Germany. Pit stops in other European countries en-route are planned

Europrix 2004 is open to teams from all European Countries and to ensure patriotic support from the general public, the boats will be heavily branded with the Team’s National colours and strict Nationality rules for the crew members will be applied.

Europrix also provide an opportunity for the best youth sailors to take part. Young sailors from each competing country under the age of 23 will be given the opportunity to put themselves forward for a selection process, which will enable them to form a crucial 20% of the crew

The fleet will be the Farr designed Europrix 45’s, formerly known as Corel 45s.

Each of the competing yachts will carry an onboard camera man who will produce editorial, tailored for each of our European Broadcast partners and Official Race Sponsors which will be aired weekly.
