The fourth round of the Holt RYA National Ranking Series 2002 is taking place this weekend at Rutland SC
The penultimate round of the Holt RYA National Ranking Series 2002 kicks off this weekend, the 9-10 November, at Rutland Sailing Club.
This unique series allows newcomers to the world of Olympic class sailing to line up against the best sailors that the UK has to offer including world and Olympic champions. It is also a great opportunity for talented sailors who are not currently on the RYA’s World Class Performance Programme to get noticed and win lottery funding for participation on the International dinghy circuit.
Four classes will sail at this weekend’s event including one Paralympic class, these will consist of the Europe, 470, Finn and 2.4mR classes. A maximum of six races are scheduled, with a target of three being sailed on Saturday and a maximum of three on the Sunday.
Entries to the Holt RYA Ranking Series will take place on the day, with registration from 10 00 on the Saturday. The first race is scheduled to start at 1200 and a social evening sponsored by Holt will follow on the Saturday evening.
The race series is an open event and therefore anybody who sails an Olympic Class boat can enter. After each event a Holt RYA National Ranking list is compiled, with those who are at the top of the ranking list being the ones with the least number of points. The Ranking List is then used to distribute grants to non-lottery funded sailors to attend events in 2003 such as the Princess Sofia Regatta, Hyeres and Spa.
