The Half Crown Club for previous OSTAR (Singlehanded Transatlantic Race) skippers was formed in recognition of the original half crown bet made between Blondie Hasler and Francis Chichester before the first race in 1960.

It has been decided to re-activate the Club and so a reunion of skippers from all previous races will be held in Plymouth on 27 May before the start of the 12th edition of the race on 29 May. Skippers are invited to contact past RWYC Commodore Tim Whitten at halfcrown@ehtw.demon.co.uk if they are interested in attending or if anyone knows a previous skipper please pass the word on or e-mail their current address/e-mail to Tim.
