The White duo won last weekend's Feva open meeting at Papercourt SC
Nine visitors, including two from as far afield as Cornwall, joined five home sailors using the club Fevas which were part funded with lottery support for the open meeting at Papercourt SC on 14 September.
Conditions were frustrating with the wind ranging from Force 0-2 and shifts of the sort that had some of the sea sailors scratching their heads. Papercourt boats filled four of the first five places in race one, with Philip and Robert White leading almost from the start. They continued this form winning all the following races.
Race two started in better breeze, with local boys, James Lovejoy and Matt Edmondson taking second from arch rivals Hannah Lytton and Sophie Porteous. Race three, after lunch, was the worst with large holes in the wind. Three boats escaped from the becalmed bunch – the White brothers followed by Colin Murray and Andrew Hill-Smith, both crewed by their sons. Race four was shortened by the club, in view of the time, with Hill-Smith taking second.
