Looking for a corporate sailing day? Check out the British Heart Foundation's charity event 29/1/07
If you’re looking for a corporate/teambuilding sailing event that will also provide benefit for a leading charity, it might be worth considering the Hearts First, Port Solent Team Sailing Challenge 2007.
Last year’s inaugural event in aid of the British Heart Foundation was a huge success and it’s predicted that this year’s event to be held on from Port Solent in Portsmouth on Tuesday 2 October using 25 of Sunsail’s fleet of Sunfast 37 will be a sell-out.
Chatting to yachtingworld.com about the British Heart Foundation’s involvement with sailing, Emma Cross – regional events manager for the British Heart Foundation east region – said: “Last year was the first time the BHF had run a sailing event as a regional event and it was a great success. We sold it as a unique team-building experience or corporate entertainment so we had a range of people who brought their clients along. We raised between £8,000 to £10,000 and hopefully we are looking at doubling that for this year. Our target is to double it every year. And the good thing is that 80p in every £1 raised goes to the charity.”
So, if you are keen on the idea of a getting a team together for a day’s racing on the Solent and raising funds for the British Heart Foundation at the same time, it’s worth signing up early. The entry fee for a team of six is £1,500 per team (£250 per head) includes yacht charter, Sunsail skipper, wet weather gear, lunch on board, afternoon tea, gala dinner, extra VIP place for gala dinner, and a donation to the British Heart Foundation.
