Close call for Middle Sea Race record and the Americas Cup in crisis, Guy Swindells and Matthew Sheahan report
This week Guy Swindells talks to ICAP Leopard Boat Captain Chris Sherlock after taking line honours in the Rolex Middle Sea race, as well as hearing from the skipper of the overall winning boat Alegre, Andres Sorriano. The 606 mile race around Malta pounded the fleet forcing several retirements, Leopard came tantalisingly close to breaking the record, missing out by just 34 minutes while Alegre came through from behind. There was plenty to talk about following this eventful offshore classic.
As the America’s Cup dispute continues to bounce in and out of court as the focus draws in on objections to the new location in the Middle East, Matthew Sheahan talks to the two skippers Russell Coutts (BMW Oracle Racing) and Brad Butterworth about what now lies at the heart of this dispute.
We also hear from Alexandra Rickham, SKUD gold medallist at the recently held Disabled World Championships.
Plus more interviews, news and views from around the sailing world.
