Matthew Sheahan rides aboard world speed record seeker L'Hydroptere, Guy Swindells finds out the latest in the Volvo Ocean Race
Flying 10ft above the water’s surface at 43 knots is an extraordinary experience. This week Shoretalk rides with a team that is determined to break the outright world sailing speed record. Matthew Sheahan finds out at first hand the addiction that has driven skipper Alain Thebault and his crew to seek the ultimate in speed for the last fifteen years.
Meanwhile, Guy Swindells reports on the latest news from Volvo 70 team Delta Lloyd who broke their canting keel support structure and are currently limping towards the Malacca Straits en route for the Leg 3 finish in Singapore.
Guy also talks to navigators Jules Salter (Ericsson 4) and Steve Hales (Green Dragon) about a taxing leg.

Next week Shoretalk takes a break, although our online news desk will still be reporting, in particular on the start of the Sydney Hobart race where Johno Fullerton will keep us posted daily as the race unfolds.
