Bernard Haissley’s Fleau has won the Six Metre European championship
Bernard Haissley’s Fleau has won the Six Metre European championship.
On the final day of the Six Metre European championship in Rungsted, Denmark, the wind was light but stable from a southerly direction and fleet got away on time on the short windward/leeward course.
In the modern class the top yachts kept a close competition and eventually Swiss Fleau (Bernard Haissley) finished first and secured the championship ahead of Swedish Sophie Too, even after the latter’s discard of an eighth place. Fleau’s discard was a third place.
In the classics the yachts competed closely around the course and Norwegian Elisabeth X secured a second overall place through her win today. She was tied with Danish Lady Day but the win in the last race broke the tie in her favour.
