There's plenty of activities for everyone at the Southampton Boatshow this weekend 16/9/06
It’s a cloudy but mild day in Southampton this Saturday 16 September, with temperatures expecting to reach 23 degrees Celsius with some sunshine and a moderate six knots of northerly breeze – comfortable conditions for exploring the Southampton Boatshow.
Here are some of the events you can catch at the show this weekend:
Saturday 16 September
As you roam through the boatshow watch out for the stilt walking pirates and pirate juggler and magician. At Treasure Island Beach groove along to the jazz band throughout the day, catch a pirate show at 1130, 1315 and 1525, or see Punch & Judy at 1250, as well as the Cragg Rats Safety Show at 1415.
In the sand play area there’ll be face painters and more Punch & Judy in the afternoon.
On the water you can witness a live HM Coastguard Search & Rescue with RNLI at 1400. Or why not Try-a-boat – choosing out of a RIB, motorboat or yacht to suit all levels of experience. Go to Stand B001 in The Arena.
Sunday 17 September
Find out what the future holds from Gypsy Rose Tea Fortune-Teller and watch the antics of the Unruly Pirate Trio as they roam around the show throughout the day.
The jazz band will be playing at Treasure Island Beach and you can catch the pirate shows at 1315 and 1505 and the Cragg Rats Safety Show is at 1415. As well as face painting you can see Punch & Judy in the sand play area at 1215 and 1535.
All week
Perfect for kids is the Go Sailing with RYA’s Onboard programme where they can have a go sailing a dinghy for free. It’s open to all regardless of experience, all you need is a change of clothes and they’ll provide you with all the gear as well as a goody bag and certificate at the end. Go to the RYA stand E052 in Mayflower Park.
Race around Southampton for two hours on an America’s Cup yacht for a true America’s Cup Experience. Go to Berth 68, it costs £47.50 per adult.
And don’t forget to go aboard STS LORD NELSON and SV TENACIOUS, two beautiful tall ships in the Hydropool Marina. Find out more about crewing on the vessels or just pick up a JST eye patch from the Jubilee Sailing Trust at stand A095.
