Day two of the Laser European Championship in Vallensbaek, Denmark, dawned another calm day and at one point it looked to be a repeat performance of the no wind scenario from the previous day.

Fortunately for the sailors, a very gentle breeze came in of about 5 knots of wind speed enabling racing to get underway. With over 130 boats the fleet has been split into groups, each of the groups completed two races in very fickle conditions.

With two race wins out of two races, Swedish sailor Fredrik Lassenius was on good form and leads the championship at this early stage. Maciej Grabowski of Poland is five points behind in second place, with a one-point margin over third placed Karl Suneson of Sweden.

In the tricky conditions it was easy for the competitors to score results deep in their groups as there were holes in the pressure and severe shifts.

After the two races on day one, Ed Wright is leading the British charge, after scoring a 22nd and a third plac and is currently in 18th place overall. Fellow team GBR sailor Dan Holman is currently in 37th position, he sailed a good first race, which was then followed up with a 42nd.

World ranked number one and team GBR sailor Paul Goodison had a tricky first race, scoring a 44th, he came back in the second to score a ninth, but is currently lying in 46th place overall.

The race committee is hoping for more breeze for day three of the Laser Europeans, which should hopefully even out the racing. The championship continues through until Saturday.
