The Sydney-Hobart race will go ahead despite failing to attract a major sponsor. The event which starts on 26 December will be run, for the first time in many years, under the club’s own name – the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia. A total of 80 boats are expected on the start line including the VOR boats which will be using the event as one of their legs, en-route to Auckland.
