Twenty-six top Melges 24 teams including Harry Melges, Brian Porter and Morgan Reeser will be doing battle at the ACURA SORC Regatta commencing on March 1. To keep the regular crews on their toes the legendary Dennis Conner will also be sailing a Melges 24 so we can look forward to some really exciting racing.

The organisers have been working hard to significantly improve the event and 2001 sees all classes racing together on Ocean courses off Miami Beach for the first time. The boats will be moored at the Miami Beach Marina, which will also provide the social centre for the regatta to give a significantly improved focus to the event.

With the Melges 24 US nationals only a couple of weeks away many of the crews will be using the SORC as a warm up regatta for the championship and foreign crews are travelling from as far afield as France, England and Japan.
