Irish and Commonwealth teams bring total to eleven
With less that two weeks to go before this year1s Rolex Commodores1 Cup, the RORC have announced a further two teams as late entries. There had been some controversy over their earlier exclusion.
IRELAND Gloves Off (Colm Barrington) Corby 38, Mandrake (Peter Morton) Mills 50, Communicator (Charles Dunstone) Corby 41.5.
COMMONWEALTH Chernikeeff 2 (Peter Harrison) Farr 52, On a High (Adam Gosling/Nick Harrison) Ker 11.3, Blue Belle (Robert Greenhalgh) Ker 11.3.
A total of 33 yachts in 11 teams will compete in this year’s Rolex Commodore’s Cup which will be raced off Cowes, Isle of Wight, between 11th and 18th August. The competition for three boat teams comprises a series of inshore and offshore races (including the RORC’s famous flexi-course which ensures crews are kept at sea for 24 -36 hours irrespective of wind conditions). 50% of each crew must be amateur according to the ISAF Eligibility Code, thereafter the only restriction is that an amateur must helm during the inshore races and at the start of the offshore race.
