The National 12 vintage meeting took place at Derwent Reservoir SC on Sunday 1 September, 2001
A competitive fleet of Vintage (clinker-built) National 12s met at Derwent Reservoir, Northumberland, on 1 September, 2001 for the annual racing for the J.& T. Hancock Trophy and the Witchcraft Bailer, Series Trophy.
Winds were medium to fresh. The first race, a scratch race, was won comfortably by Howard Chadwick and Helen Nicholson, followed by Peter Roe and Helen Bird (second) and Howard Elcock and Robert Aal.
The second and third races were handicap races, using the host club’s system and handicaps established on the results of the first race. Chadwick managed to overcome the penalty of the late start to win the second, with Elcock narrowly beating Roe.
In the third race, Chadwick was unable to catch Roe but passed all the other boats.
